Before you hire

A useful shortlist starts with five checks.

A directory can narrow the field. The homeowner still controls the final verification, scope and contract.

  1. Verify the license.Use Florida DBPR and confirm that the name and status match the proposal.
  2. Define the problem.Ask each company to explain the diagnosis, options and consequences in plain language.
  3. Compare written scope.Equipment, labor, permits, disposal, controls and warranties should not hide inside vague totals.
  4. Ask about sizing.Replacement recommendations should reflect the home and distribution system, not the old nameplate alone.
  5. Protect the handoff.Confirm who registers equipment, provides documents and handles service after installation.
